Technicians collect 300 toys and 1,000 books for
TOYS for TOTS Campaign
January 1, 2006, Monroe, NY – Nebrasky Plumbing, Heating & Cooling recently participated in the 2005 Toys for Tots drive in a unique way. When making a service call, Nebrasky technicians picked up toys from any Nebrasky customer who wished to donate. Additionally, technicians picked up toys from any community members in the Monroe-Woodbury and Warwick areas. In total Nebrasky technicians picked up over 300 donated toys and 1,000 children’s books.
“One customer had ten boxes of new toys to be picked up,” stated Paul Nebrasky. “She was so delighted that our tech picked up her donation – she was worried about filling up too many of the local drop-off boxes!”
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
“This was an incredible effort on the part of our staff,” stated Paul Nebrasky. “The entire Nebrasky team was involved – our office staff made appointments for donations, our techs made the pick-ups, builders we work with dropped off toys at our office and my daughter, Emily, distributed flyers about the pick-up service and organized the donated toys for delivery to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Everyone was motivated to make this a happier Christmas for the children receiving Toys for Tots gifts. We can’t wait to do it again next year!”
