Preserving Cool Air in Your Home This Summer

It is extremely tempting to come home after a long day and crank up the AC, along with leaving it on throughout the entire evening. While this may seem like a good idea at first, this bad habit can start to dig into your pockets if you continue to do it throughout the entire summer. Fortunately, we have some tips and tricks on how to preserve the cool air in your home so you are less likely to keep that AC on the entire day.

  • Keep your blinds closed! This may not seem as if it will do much on keeping your home cooled down, but unwanted heat actually comes through the windows and into your home, causing you to feel much warmer in the house.
  • Keep your bedroom doors open throughout the day. When you close the doors inside of your home, this prevents the cool air from getting into those areas throughout the day. When you leave the doors open, there is much more opportunity for cool air to flow within the rooms.
  • Let the night air inside your home. Temperatures tend to drop at night during the summer, so take this opportunity to crack windows open to let the cool breeze in.
  • Avoid using the oven/stove during really warm days. Instead, stick to grilling to keep the heat out of your home!

Just follow these few, simple and easy rules and your home will feel cooler in no time! Also, your wallet will thank you in the long run. If you have any questions or need your air conditioning unit looked at, give Nebrasky a call at 800.989.0299 today!
