Why am I walking?

We all have a personal connection to cardiovascular disease and stroke. Because of fund raising events like the Heart Walk, donations are made for research that helps save lives every day. I am personally walking in honor of my best friend and life partner, who has suffered with heart disease for many years. Beginning with stents a few years ago to a triple by-pass and aortic valve replacement, his life has been extended by many years because of the technology today.

The American Heart Association is one of the largest voluntary health organizations working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases, the Nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers, claim more than 813,804 American lives a year. Please accept the challenge to walk, donate or volunteer to help fight heart disease and stroke. Together we can help the American Heart Association achiever its mission!
